Cuatro de los 10 mejores prospectos de la MLB son Venezolanos y 6 Dominicanos para el draft del 2 de julio

Christopher Acosta                    Rank: 6

La Vega, Dominican Republic

Height: 6'3", Weight: 170         Position: RHP

DOB: 1/15/1998                     Bats: R, Throws: R
Scouting Grades: Fastball: 65 | Curve: 55 | Changeup: 65 | Control: 60 Many consider Acosta the best pitcher on the international market this year, and it's easy to see why he has garnered so much attention. Scouts like Acosta's tall and lean body along with his loose and easy arm actions on the mound. His fastball hovers in the 88 to 92 mph range, but his changeup might be his best overall pitch, and he can throw it in any count. Acosta's curveball has good rotation with bite, and he uses it in the strike zone early in counts and as a strikeout pitch.
Scouts like Acosta's command of all of his pitches and his overall feel for pitching. Some scouts believe he can look disinterested at times, and his delivery could use some work, but there is no denying his potential.
Acosta is based in La Vega, Dominican Republic, and is trained by Alberto Faña. The Red Sox have expressed serious interest in the right-handed pitcher.

Jonathan Amundaray              Rank: 7

Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela        Height: 6'2", Weight: 175

Position: OF                           DOB: 5/11/1998

Bats: R, Throws: R
Scouting Grades: Hit: 60 | Power: 55 | Run: 55 | Arm: 60 | Field: 55 It's easy to see why some consider Amundaray the top Venezuelan prospect in an impressive class of players from the country this year. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Amundaray does everything well and has the potential to be a five-tool player.
Scouts have been impressed with the teenager's overall strength and his athletic build. They also like that he can cover ground in the outfield and make all of the plays. Projected as a right fielder, Amundaray has been compared to a young Raul Mondesi because of his arm and raw power. Other scouts view him as a better fit in left field.
Evaluators talk about Amundaray's presence on the field. He's a competitor and he is confident. He also shown good work habits and leadership qualities.
Amundaray is based in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, and is trained by Denis Suarez. The Yankees are considered the favorite to ink the outfielder to a deal.

Brayan Hernandez                 Rank: 8

Puerto Cabello, Venezuela      Height: 6'1", Weight: 170

Position: OF                          DOB: 9/11/1997

Bats: R, Throws: R
Scouting Grades: Hit: 65 | Power: 55 | Run: 55 | Arm: 50 | Field: 60 Hernandez is an attractive prospect now and he's expected to get even better in the future.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound outfielder is a contact hitter with a balanced setup at the plate. His natural swing leads some scouts to believe Hernandez will improve quickly once he receives regular instruction and plays regularly in games. He's also projected to show more power in the future if he continues to gain weight and maintain his athleticism. He's considered a line-drive hitter that can spray the ball to all fields.
Tall and lean, Hernandez has been praised for hand-eye coordination and speed on defense in the outfield. He also projects to be a plus-runner and has shown good instincts on the bases.
Hernandez is listed as a center fielder but could end up in right field. He is from Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, and is trained by Henderson Martinez. The Mariners have expressed serious interest in the outfielder.

Antonio Arias                                 Rank: 9

San Juan de los Moros, Venezuela

Height: 6'2", Weight: 180                Position: OF

DOB: 6/12/1998                             Bats: R, Throws: R
Scouting Grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 55 | Run: 60 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 Antonio Arias is not Cameron Maybin, but that's the big league player he could resemble the most if all goes according plan. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound outfielder covers a lot of ground in the outfield and has the potential to hit for some power when he matures and receives regular instruction at a team's academy.
Scouts like teenager's big frame. He is thin, but the belief is that he will fill out his body as he gets older. He projects to stay in center field.
On offense, Arias is known for showing quick hands, good balance and aggressiveness at the plate. Like many prospects his age, Arias needs to work on his approach against offspeed pitches and breaking balls, but evaluators who like him are confident he will get better with experience.
A quick study, Arias has only trained with Yasser Mendez at the Yasser Mendez Baseball Agency and Academy for just over a year. He is from San Juan de los Moros, Venezuela, and has been scouted heavily by several teams, including the Yankees. Antonio's brother Jesus is a Minor League pitcher for the Chicago Cubs.

Anderson Espinoza                      Rank: 10

Caracas, Venezuela

Height: 5'10", Weight: 150           Position: RHP

DOB: 3/9/1998                           Bats: R, Throws: R

Scouting Grades: Fastball: 65 | Curve: 60 | Changeup: 55 | Control: 50 Could Anderson Espinoza be the next Pedro Martinez? Some scouts believe the 5-foot-10, 150-pound teenager from Caracas, Venezuela, might be the next closest thing.
Espinoza has three projectable pitches with command and he's a plus-athlete that has a chance to be a top of the rotation starter. Some scouts question his size and strength, but there is no denying the effectiveness of his power arm and his breaking ball.
The right-hander's fastball hovers in the 91 to 93 mph range and his curveball comes in between 71 and 73 mph. Espinoza's changeup also has some sinking action and some scouts think he could be the best overall pitcher on the market.
Espinoza doesn't look like the prototypical pitching prospect, but like Martinez, he could be the exception to the rule. He is trained by Felix Luzon. Several teams have expressed interest in Espinoza, but the Red Sox are considered the frontrunners to land him.
